One question, when you hit the starter button and hear the loud clack sound does your headlight go out or almost out? If it goes dim or out it is more than likely your battery, if the light stays on it could be that your decompression solenoid is out of adjustment. One other thing you should have checked is the safety switch on the kickstand. Mechanic said it had something to do with my bike doing the same thing your sounds to be doing. But personaly I would check the solenoid first.
